چکیده

Twelve patients with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) were studied before and after administration of 0.1 mg/kg i.v. propranolol. Echo zones for inducing atrioventricular (A-V) nodal reentry were determined using His bundle recording and the atrial extrastimulus technique. After propranolol the echo zone was abolished in two patients, decreased in one, unchanged in five, increased in two. In two patients echo zones appeared only after propranolol. Nine patients had episodes of sustained PSVT prior to propranolol. Following propranolol PSVT persisted in only five. In these five patients propranolol slowed the rate of PSVT. The data were analyzed by plotting A1-A2 and H1-H2 interval curves. On the basis of these curves the patients were separated into those with "'dual pathways" and those with "reflection." The effects of propranolol on both conduction patterns are discussed. In summary, the actions of propranolol in PSVT patients were variable. Potentially beneficial effects included slowing of induced PSVT, loss of the ability to sustain PSVT, and decrease or total elimination of echo zones. Potentially deleterious effects included potentiation of the echo phenomenon with either in-

Effects Of Fast Pathway Ablation On The Concealment Zone And Electrophysiological Behavior Of AV-Node During Atrial Fibrillation.

Objectives: Dual pathways have a determinant role in the occurrence of atrio nodal tachyarrhythmia (AVNRT). The aim of present study is to determine the role of slow pathway (SP) in the concealment zone and protective role of AV node during atrial fibrillation (AF). Material &Methods: In 7 isolated nodal rabbit preparation zone of concealment and concealed conduction is quantified by Specif...

New model of computer analysis for assessment of the effects of lesions induced by direct voltage current in isolated AV-node of rabbit

Introduction: The ablation technique is one of the important therapeutic interventions for treatment of AV Nodal tachyarrhythmia. Different animal models have been developed to study the effects of ablation on the functional interanodal structure. The aim of the present study was to develop a new model of computer analysis to produce lesions by using direct voltage in isolated perfused rabbi...

High-Frequency in Vitro Direct Shoot Regeneration from Nodal Explants of Hyssop Plant (Hyssopus officinalis L.)

Considering great medicinal value of Hyssopus officinalis L. and possibility of its mass production through in vitro culture, two individual experiments was conducted. Effect of various concentrations (0, 2.2, 4.4 and 11 µmol) of TDZ and BAP in combination with 1 µmol of IAA on direct regeneration from nodal explants were assessed. Significant difference between treatments was observed (P≤ 0.01...

Its Enhancement of Atrioventricular Nodal Pacemaker Activity and Failure to Increase Ventricular Automaticity in Dogs

The effects of glucagon on atrioventricular nodal automaticity and ventricular automaticity were studied in anesthetized open-chest dogs. After the sinoatrial node was crushed, glucagon, 4 fig/kg, produced a marked and sustained increase in the rate of A-V nodal discharge (27.6 ± 10.1 vs. 117.4 ± 6.5 beats/min) that persisted for an average of 20 minutes. The effect of glucagon was not modified...
